Sharad Nigam

Sharad Nigam, An experienced advocate and member of the Law Society of Western Australia.

Biography

A consultant at Nigams Legal, Sharad Nigam has almost 40 years’ experience within the legal profession, having completed his Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from Aligarh University in India back in 1975. Prior to this, Sharad completed a Bachelor of Science in 1969 and a Masters in Psychology in 1971 at Agra University in India.

 

Admitted to the High Court of Uttar Pradesh State (India) as an Advocate in October 1975, Sharad went on to practise law in Aligarh until January 1979. Two years later, he completed his Bachelor of Laws at the University of Western Australia and was subsequently admitted to the Supreme Court of Western Australia as a barrister and solicitor in February 1983.

Expertise

Now living and working in Perth, Sharad spent a few years with a law firm in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia from 1981 to 1985 before establishing S C Nigam & Co in July 1985. S C Nigam & Co then practising in mining law, mining accidents, workers’ compensation and criminal law as well as will, probate, estate matters and commercial litigation. In December 1988, Sharad relocated the practice to Perth.

Admitted to the Supreme Court of India as a Non-resident Advocate in 2002, Sharad subsequently formed connections with law firms in New Delhi, Mumbai and other cities in India.

 

In April 2013 Sharad incorporated Nigams Legal when he became one of the three legal practitioner directors in the practice. Since then, Sharad has focused his services on handling workers compensation claims, personal injury matters, wills and probate issues and commercial law. On 30 June 2016, Sharad stepped down as a legal practitioner director and became a consultant to Nigams Legal.

 

Sharad is a member of the Law Society of Western Australia.
